Not because her husband was away on presidential routine; she did it for her cabinet wives and those tagged ladies of the press. However, the hen party became quite popular after the sexual revolution of the sixties.
Long before now, a lady would put together a small gathering inviting only her female friends. They would gather to chitchat, gossip about almost everything, discuss emotional issues, cry and laugh together. And of course, there is always light refreshment, especially tea to make the small party worthwhile. This kind of gathering was very common among the elites and women whose husbands were soldiers on duty in war-ridden territories. The wives of traveling business tycoons also gather to do such. This kind of gathering is called the hen party.
In the eighties, the hen party would later become very popular and was adopted as the pre-wedding party for a bride-to-be. It was unconsciously renamed the bachelorette party and consciously modeled after the bachelor’s party.
